This weekend 18 gardens in Forest Gate are opening their gardens on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th June from 11am to 4pm.

The Trail is free, and you can walk, cycle or drive around - though, the first two are preferable for a green journey. The gardens range from the highly ornate to the almost wild.

There’s an agave that threatens to envelope the house like sea monster from the deep, a natural swimming pool where you are invited to swim, and this weekend is likely to be warm enough.

Some gardens are demoralisingly beautiful but the next is likely to be more amateurish to give you hope...

Most of the gardens are open for both days and some for one of the days - Capel Road gardens are Saturday only.

There will also be a free Ikebana demonstration for you to discover the Japanese art of flower arranging.

This will be held on Sunday 19th June, 2pm at 151 Earlham Grove, E7 9AP, where you can learn something of the history behind the technique and its seven key principles.

So however you get round, enjoy some of our best gardens this weekend.

Maps of the Trail are available at the Community Garden, The Gate Library, Number 8 Emporium or you can go online here for the map and information on each garden. For further updates follow @fgcommgarden
