I moved to Forest Gate in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the warmth and spirit of the community. It felt like a place of great balance between living in a stimulating city like London and the wild beauty of Wanstead Flats.

What a great place to have on the doorstep for my young family to grow up in!

Shortly after moving I began teaching Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga classes at The Space East, a studio under the arches on Avenue Road, and Baby and Toddler Yoga, Hatha and Restorative Yoga for all age groups here in Forest Gate and around East London.

Over these years I have formed many great relationships, built connections and grown together with others to form some very long-lasting friendships. It’s great to be back, building new connections after the Covid restrictions and lockdowns of the last few years.

I find it really rewarding to make Yoga enjoyable and accessible to everyone at every age and a good example can be seen in my current Toddler Yoga classes for preschoolers up to 4 where the adults participate just as much as the children.

These sessions are inspired by a new book or a theme every week. There are lots of yoga poses hidden in the shapes of animals and characters and breathing techniques are disguised in funny sounds, singing or vocal games. The aim is to elongate the exhalation to bring a more pacified and calming way of breathing and increase the expansion of the lungs.

We also have some dancing too and it’s great for the parents to let go of themselves for a moment and be care free.

At the end we have the final relaxation with soothing music, pausing from the chaos of everyday life and enjoying doing absolutely nothing.

Some people might think that yoga is very serious but most of the yoga classes, even the adults’ ones are great fun and easy-going. I am eager to start some Children Yoga for five to ten years old and all my other classes are starting here now.
